Group Selection and Cyber Terror

The recruitment of “hackers” for cyber terror and other criminal activities can be respectively seen as either political crimes or economic crimes. Both of these can be explained through group selection theories in evolutionary psychology. In changing the benefits and motivations for these crimes we can take people who are more likely to become criminals or who have already become criminals and redirect their efforts in a manner that is beneficial to society. Incorporating outcast individuals and integrating them into society will lead to lower rates of attacks and compromise against online systems.
